The evening will include a screening of 'Life Without Benedetta' as well as a presentation about the film and the impact on those living with loss. This unique event and film is a stand to bring about transformation for those innocent people suffering in silence daily all around the world. |
The London Bombing attacks on 7 July 2005 remain the single biggest peacetime terrorist atrocity on the British mainland. With 52 dead and over 700 injured the numbers are chilling enough, but they fail to capture the horror for those who survived, their lives ripped apart forever, whether they are Christian or Muslim, believer or non-believer.
Life Without Benedetta is a beautiful and hauntingly powerful half-hour film. It is the story of just one victim of the 7/7 bombings - a beautiful young Italian woman, Benedetta Ciaccia, who came to London from Rome to seek a new life. It is produced by her former boyfriend, Raj Babbra, and directed by Rabia Bouchiba. The film is a story about life, loss and love...More on Life Without Benedetta
In this film, her story is told by her family, her friends and those whose lives she touched, who are all joined together now in the silence of their loss. The film does not specifically focus on the event which caused her death. It does not set out to point fingers or direct anger. Rather its purpose is to reach out to all those who have lost a loved one. Although this film is about one young woman who was tragically killed in an unforeseen event, the film is essentially a metaphor for Life Without Anyone, as it hopes to bring awareness of the heartbreaking effect of loss, and highlight that more can and should be done for those individuals dealing with the emotional wreckage left behind.
Life With Loss is a new organisation created in parallel with the film. It aims to run and support inspiring projects and events born out of tragedy. The organisation and film will be publicly launched on the 7th July 2009 by broadcasting Life Without Benedetta, nationally and internationally on television.
A private screening will also be hosted at Channel 4 Cinema for a selected invited audience from both the UK and abroad. One main purpose of this event is to bridge a gap that exists between those in positions of power and influence and those who are in need of your assistance to recreate their lives. This unique event and film is a stand to bring about transformation for those innocent people suffering in silence daily all around the world.
